When lightning strikes
There is a profound silence-
A silence that is as loud and dark
As the bolt is illuminating and deafening

When lightning strikes
heat and power crack down from the heavens
Reeking havoc in an energetic response
to atmospheric conditions
It might seem predictable that lightning may strike-
But were and when?

In the aftermath of the storm
beneath the char and ash from the hit
Lies the electrically charged brand
Burned into the heart of the soul
A sign- a scar
marked forever as a reminder
of the light and illumination
That came from within the silence of that moment..
Of when the news came down
Like a bolt of lightning
